Turkey: Nationalist Songs of Freedom & Unity The Liberation of Zion
The Liberation of Zion make their most daring pilgrimage yet. Nine tracks of classic roots reggae, soaked in psychedelic haze and Anatolian saz, where the Lion of Judah meets Aslan and the Bosphorus becomes a bridge between Zion and Anadolu. Fiercely patriotic and mischievously clever, the album turns Turkish history into Rastafari reasoning. Unity becomes I-nity, cartographers chart while Nyabinghi drums chant, and a ballot proves mightier than a battle. From the birth of the Republic to the stopped clocks of Dolmabahçe, from the Piri Reis map to the red crescent in the sky, every verse is a history lesson with a skank in its step.
Roots, rhythm, and a flag flying high.
